Exciting news in my life

Sunday I climbed stairs for the first time. We got to Church early and I tried to follow Grandma Kimmy up to the podium where she was putting up the numbers for the hymns. After a couple minutes, I tried really hard, and managed to climb the two stairs. Then Mommy made me do it three more times just to make sure I could. I'm so amazing. Today I tried to do it at home (well, I did make it up one step then Mommy stopped me) and Mommy said I wasn't allowed to. She seems to think I'd break my neck or something. Luckily most of the house is on one level and I don't have the opportunity very often!

Then after Church, I had my first meat! I had an apples and chicken combo for dinner. I ate it up just as fast as anything else and had it again for dinner yesterday. Tonight I had a sweet potatoes and chicken combo and it wasn't nearly as tasty (or so my face said), but I still gobbled it up.

Then today, Mommy discovered I have a new tooth! It likely came through a couple days ago, because it's through pretty far. It's a maxillary lateral incisor (not a central one like a normal person gets) on my right side. Yes, I have a weird mouth. Mommy tried to take a picture, but I made it difficult. This is my "I can't believe you tried to hold my mouth open to take a picture of my weird tooth!" face (that also has some not-yet-washed-off dinner stuck to it).

8 months old!

On Friday, my 8 month birthday, Mommy and I went with Grandma and Grandpa to Columbia South Carolina for the night (Saturday they went to the temple where a family in our ward were sealed! The Atlanta temple is closed for remodeling). Here I am in the car!

When we got to the hotel, Mommy tried to do a photo shoot, but I was not very cooperative. I smiled a little at Grandma Kimmy, but not much!

I am now 8 months old. I can stand by myself for a few seconds, but I get scared and hold onto something (like throwing myself at whoever's making me stand) or sit down (very smoothly). I love to blabber "talk," blow raspberries and do other fun things with my mouth, slap at everything, push things away if I don't want them, chase the cats, put anything and everything in my mouth, and drink water and juice (it tastes so yummy!). I sleep ten or more hours most nights, then get up for a bottle and go back to sleep for a couple hours. I am a terrible napper and if I'm not tired, unlike lots of other kids, I don't fall asleep in my car seat. But I sleep all night! I still just have two teeth on the bottom and none on top. I have waxy ears, fingernails that grow really fast, and a big fat belly. I am generally very happy, but clingy when Mommy is around!

A belated update

Mommy apologizes profusely for slacking on my blog. Here's an update, finally!

I had a minor cold for a week or so. Here I am snoozing on mommy's bed for a little while (I don't normally get to snooze on mommy's bed, especially now that I crawl everywhere- I'd fall off!). I love my blankey! I hug it all night long. I have two- one huge, one medium, both made of the same yarn. It's handy to have two because one needs to get washed then hung to dry!

I LOVE the kitties! This one, Gabby, stays in the house most of the time. I like to follow her around. The other kitty, Ashes, is usually outside hunting. The cat doors are stuck so they only go out, not in, because Ashes liked to bring us "presents."

I also love pulling all the VHS's off the shelves in the family room.

Daddy came to visit! I like to eat puffs, though I'm starting to try things that are more solid and getting sick of them.

We played at Border's in the mall on Friday.

Me and Caroline! Again!

Here's me and Caroline last time we saw each other, the first time we met, and our first time in matching dresses. And now we got together for my first Labor Day weekend!

Saturday night we took a bath together. It was my first time sitting in the big bath tub. I love to suck on this turtle every time I take a bath. Grandma Ann got it for me- it came with a set of baby washcloths. I get very excited when I see it and shove it in my mouth and suck away. Bathwater is delicious!

Here I am 8/7/09 when I was starting to pull myself to a stand. My favorite thing to pull up on was always laundry baskets (I first pulled up while sitting in one on my 6-month birthday- the picture above- of course I wouldn't do it again for a picture, but you can see me trying!)
And here I am later that day taking a nap with my bum in the air- once I started to crawl (or just about) I slept that way- now I'm just all over the place in my crib. Mommy got this fishy outfit for me because she loved it lots.

8/10/09 I had some prunes. Yes, eating is messy, but usually not even close to this messy! I was rubbing it all over my face and thought it was funny when everybody laughed at me.

8/13/09 I fell asleep like this- I was sitting and just flopped forward.

8/15 I LOVE the kitties! They eat on the kitchen chairs so the dog doesn't eat their food. I like to pull myself up to watch.

8/16 I went through a phase of making this face. This was also the first time I pulled to a stand in my crib. Now I'm back in my normal crib and do it on a regular basis.

8/19 I had a photo shoot because this outit was just so cute. Hand-me-downs rock!

I didn't want to stay sitting and thought it was hilarious every time Mommy pushed me back to sit for a picture.
